Sitting at 1,700m on Kenya's fertile central highlands, the estate has been in the Mbogo family since the early 1950s and takes its name from a combination of \"Mbogo\" (buffalo) and the Kamavindi stream that runs through the property. Josephine runs the farm day-to-day, intercropping coffee with avocado, banana and macadamia and using cattle manure in place of chemical fertiliser. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, pulped, dry-fermented for 16-24 hours, washed in fresh Kamavindi river water, then dried slowly on raised beds for up to three weeks.
