Hadeso Washed comes from a private washing station of the same name in Ethiopia's Guji Zone, owned and operated by Testi Specialty Coffee. Sitting at 1,950m in the Shakisso district, the region's nutrient-rich soils and cool, high-altitude climate produce some of Ethiopia's most floral and complex coffees. Cherry is delivered by 700 independent outgrowers — mostly organic smallholders farming 2–5 hectare plots under native shade trees — from the nearby village of Dambi Uddo.
Each lot is hand-sorted, floated, pulped within 6–8 hours of picking, fermented for 36–48 hours, re-washed, and dried on raised beds for 5–7 days — earning it a Grade 1 classification, the highest quality grade for Ethiopian coffee. Farmers are paid a premium above the government market rate on delivery, plus a second premium once the lot sells, and the coffee is bought directly through Testi Specialty Coffee rather than the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, supporting greater traceability and better returns for growers.
