SOVU WOMANS COFFEE, RWANDA

A crisp, juicy Rwandan with sparkling acidity and brown-sugar sweetness ; clean, elegant and dangerously drinkable.

Grown by smallholder farmers in the hills around the Sovu washing station, high in Rwanda's Southern Province. Sovu is the smallest of four stations run by the celebrated Maraba cooperative ; Abahuzamugambi Ba Kawa, "together we work the coffee" ; and has earned Cup of Excellence honours. Tiny plots, careful hand-sorting, and a community rebuilt around coffee.
